Job search is always a hard anxiety filled thing to do and Ansh Patel and Jordi Frank discussed this topic to our class. Many times when looking for a job, we, college students, find that we may be qualified in all areas except for the area about experience. Unfortunately, many companies require a certain amount of experience (ex: 5 years) even for entry level jobs. As college students, it is very hard to gain this much work experience due to the times we are able to dedicate to school and a job and still be successful. Because of COVID-19, the job search has become even harder. Because we are all locked down, interviews are harder to conduct and even if we do get the job it is still indefinite as to when on-site work will resume.
Ansh talked about his job experience and why he chose to not go into a field where he'd be doing game/media design, something he is very passionate about. As college students and even as little kids we were told to pursue a career in which we are doing something that we are truly passionate about. Although this is still something that I strongly believe, Ansh did bring up sometimes in one of your life’s passions can almost ruin that for you. Can you talk particularly about game design and how once it is being done professionally it requires way more hours of dedication and can be extremely detrimental to one’s social life. When he mentioned that sometimes in the process of game design, an employee would be expected to put in up to 80 hours of work a week, I was shocked.
